Fan Zone: Visitors at the public screening in the Olympic Park

- 703,000 visitors were in the Fan Zone. Even on non-match days, around 2,000 people came to the Fan Zone to watch the program.
- The quarter-final between the German national team and Spain on July 5 was the best attended. The capacity of the public viewing area was increased once again for this match, so that a total of 53,000 people were able to watch the game in the Fan Zone and the Olympic Stadium.
European Championship tourists in Munich

- Around half a million out-of-town visitors came to Munich for the first three match days of the European Championships alone.
- Hotel occupancy on match days was above average at 79-93%.
- The added value for tourism on the six match days amounted to over 150 million euros.
- For the opening match on June 14, 2024, the Scottish fans brought a lot of atmosphere to the city - and felt very much at home in Munich, as a letter of thanks from a fan to Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter shows.
In addition to the German fans, supporters from nine different nations attended the opening game at the six matches in the Football Arena (France, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania (twice), Serbia (twice), Slovenia, Denmark, Ukraine and Scotland). Supporting program from Fan Zone to Light Art

- During the EURO, there were over 300 supporting events throughout the city.
- On five match days, the city's landmarks were illuminated in the colors of the participating countries during Light Art.
- On all six match days, Street Activation provided free street art in ten Munich squares before the games, with concerts, comedy, improv theater and fotball artistry.
- Other cultural contributions included the DingDangDöng Festival (Färberei and Kösk), the Stadium of Dreams at Fat Cat and the Impro-EM in the run-up to the tournament.
- The highlight, however, was the daily popular sports, music and entertainment program in the Fan Zone - Kelvin Jones, the Kytes, Moop Mama, Simon Pearce and Maria Clara Groppler performed here, among others - and folk music rapper Tream was a surprise guest. Münchener Freiheit followed on Sunday.
Spectacular: Kindl at Marienplatz and #hockdiher benches

- The Münchner Kindl on Marienplatz, which is part of the Host City's “Encounter” Spectacular, was diligently used as such a meeting place. This is shown by the countless different stickers that fans from all over Europe and the world have placed there.
- The benches in the EURO design, which were set up in Munich as part of the Spectacular campaign under the meeting motto #hockdiher, were also well received by fans, visitors and Munich residents.
- The benches at the airport, in the Olympic Park, at Münchner Freiheit and at Isartor will remain in place permanently after the tournament and will thus make their contribution to the sustainable EURO.
- The theme of “encounter” was also exemplified by the Dutch and Romanians. After the Dutch fan walk, both fan camps celebrated a peaceful and colorful soccer festival, including a joint “To the left, to the right!”. True to the motto “united by football”.
Top reach for EURO 2024 on muenchen.de: Over 100 reels with more than 25 million views

The UEFA EURO 2024 in Munich was also an absolute success in terms of audience reach. The content produced by muenchen.de for the host city achieved record coverage.
- The official content hub of the host city Munich with all content on UEFA EURO 2024 muenchen.de/uefaeuro2024 achieved almost 510,000 page views, 360,000 of which were in the EURO period from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
In addition to the overview page, the following were particularly popular:
- the detailed page for the fan zone with around 100,000 page views
- the Host City Munich diary (over 90 diary entries) with around 50,000 page views
- and also the special topic on sustainability with more than 30,000 page views.
The social media posts on our accounts had a reach in the high millions:
In total, @muenchen's social posts (over 100 reels) have achieved more than 40 million views since the start of the tournament.
Over 100 reels from the host city have been published on Instagram @muenchen alone, which have been viewed 25.5 million times so far, plus there have been almost 600 stories.
Three videos from the Munich Fan Zone even achieved well over one million views each, setting new records for the city portal @muenchen.de as well
- the consolation video after Germany's European Championship exit against Spain, in which Spanish fans and their German friends hug each other (3.7 million)
- the completely detached cheers of the German fans in the fan zone on the opening match day after the early German 1:0 against Scotland (3.4 million)
- the Dutch fan walk through the Olympic Park (2.3 million)
The #hockdiher special and the “Spectacular” coverage of the 6 match benches in EURO 2024 design also attracted a lot of attention. The #hockdiher videos achieved around 2.7 million views.

Volunteers for the European Championships

- 1,150 volunteers were in action in the stadium, 450 in the city (in around 3,300 shifts)
- 5 volunteers supported Host City Munich on their social media channels
High media interest in Host City Munich

- Around 400 media representatives from all over the world were accredited for the city's fan zone in the Olympic Park, around ten percent of whom were Scottish journalists.
- Among other things, the (European) press were interested in how Scots can protect themselves from mosquito bites under their kilt, how much beer was drunk in Munich overall and there were unsolicited applications for the European Championship mascot Albärt.
Transportation: By bus and train to the stadium and the fan zone

- Regionalverkehr Oberbayern (RVO) transported a total of 110,456 fans from the fan zone and the fan beer gardens to the stadium and from there back to the city center with exactly 1,111 trips on behalf of Host City.
- The return journey of all fans from the Munich Football Arena to the city center only took around 1.5 hours on average after the final whistle.
- Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) transported around 40,000 passengers to the arena for each match, around 25,000 to the fan zone and in some cases up to 30,000 to the public viewing area in the Olympic Stadium and back again.
