The Offene Behindertenarbeit - evang. in der Region München (OBA) and the "Mädchen an den Ball" project of the BIKU e.V. association are delighted to receive a donation from Kathrin "Ka" Lehmann. In the second week of July, the Host City Ambassador presented the two organizations with a cheque for 5,000 euros each in the Fan Zone in Munich's Olympic Park. The donation is part of Katrin Lehmann's expense allowance and the contractual agreement with Host City Munich.

The OBA wants to use Ka Lehmann's donation to revive its inclusive soccer tournaments. The donation for "Mädchen an den Ball" was made during a soccer tournament with around 130
girls aged 6 to 16 on the soccer court of the UEFA EURO Fan Zone in Munich's Olympic Park in cooperation with the Bavarian Football Association (BFV).

Lehmann forms team with Felix Brych

Professional footballer and professional ice hockey player - there are probably not many sportswomen who can make that claim. Kathrin Lehmann, now 43, has had a remarkable career, which has also led the former goalkeeper to FC Bayern. It was therefore only logical to recruit her as an ambassador for the host city of Munich at UEFA EURO 2024, where she will form the Munich team together with referee Dr. Felix Brych.

Munich has become a second home for the Swiss, which is why the Munich resident by choice sees herself as predestined for the role of ambassador: "In Munich, very different nations will be cheering on their teams, so as a commuter between Lake Zurich and Munich's local mountains, I fit in well."

Commitment to sustainability, diversity and tolerance

Before and during the European Championships, Lehmann, who was born in Zurich in 1980, wants to represent and work on the topics of sustainability, diversity and tolerance as well as the positive economic impact of the major sporting event for the host city. Incidentally, Lehmann is not only connected to Munich through sport: After her active career, she studied literature and business administration at LMU and then founded her own agency. Since 2022, she has also been a soccer expert on ZDF and a speaker at major events.

What else the successful founder and entrepreneur can offer in addition to her business knowledge: "I have years of experience in promoting young talent, especially girls and women, of course. I really enjoy this work, and I can and want to convey that as an ambassador. As a former active professional athlete, I can provide a lot of input on the topic of women's and girls' sport in general."

Sport is definitely her great passion, which is not surprising given her successes. She has played for the Swiss national team in both soccer and ice hockey, has taken part in two Olympic Games and has won the Champions League - also in soccer and ice hockey. And another record: Kathrin Lehmann is the only woman to have scored a goal in the top German league in soccer and ice hockey.
