Oktoberfest tradition of the Augustiner Festhalle
In 1898, the marquee of the then “Nuremberg crocodile landlord” Georg Lang made it to the Oktoberfest for the first time. And this was despite the fact that Lang did not meet several admission requirements: he did not manage his Oktoberfest tent himself, built a tent that was clearly too large and did not even come from Munich. But that was soon forgiven. At least since he became the first Oktoberfest host ever to have his own band play in 1902.
And things are still traditional here today: the beer is stored on the second floor of the 30-metre-high tent tower. It is stored in the traditional 200-liter wooden barrels, the so-called “Hirschen”. To transport the heavy barrels, a wooden barrel elevator was specially installed on the exterior.
Atmosphere in the Augustiner Festhalle: rustic during the day, groovy in the evening

The Augustiner Oktoberfest band likes to take it easy during the day with Bavarian brass band music, only in the evening does it get more cheerful in the tent with Oktoberfest hits.
The atmosphere can certainly be described as rustic. The festival hall brings together regulars from Munich's large beer gardens and pubs. But even here, people dance on the benches in the evening. The tent is family-friendly on the two Oktoberfest Tuesdays: there are particularly low prices for families.
