Armbrustschützenzelt: Oktoberfest tradition since 1895
Even the name of the tent reveals its special nature: the German Crossbow Championships have been held here during Oktoberfest since 1935. An archer on the tower of the tent and an eagle above the main entrance still refer to the long tradition of shooters at the Oktoberfest. While they used to aim overhead at a wooden eagle, today they aim at neutral targets. The crossbow championships take place in a separate tent annex and are not freely accessible.
Atmosphere in the Armbrustschützenzelt: shooting clubs and ProudWiesn

The Armbrustschützenzelt is popular with shooting clubs because of its living shooting tradition. The audience is generally mixed, and the Platzl Oktoberfest band provides a hearty atmosphere. Bavarian tradition is a top priority, as demonstrated by the Schuhplattler and Goaßlschnalzer dancers who perform every Wednesday at 12 noon.
Since 2016, the ProudWiesn for the LGBTIQ* community has been held in the Armbrustschützenzelt on the second Sunday of the Wiesn. The queer event is aimed at gay and lesbian business groups and their friends and usually attracts over 300 participants.
